Alex Troutman (He/Him)

Alex Troutman is a wildlife biologist, science communicator, and environmental educator whose career is rooted in a deep passion for nature and representation. With degrees in biology from Georgia Southern University, Alex has worked hands-on with endangered species like Kemp’s ridley sea turtles and Karner blue butterflies, and served as an endangered species observer in the Gulf of Mexico.

He’s held roles with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service, where he protected nesting sea turtles and restored rare butterfly populations

Having grown up without wildlife role models who looked like him, he now leads nature hikes and delivers public talks to represent scientists of color and encourage future generations

Alex’s work celebrates Black nature culture and challenges traditional narratives by reclaiming space for underrepresented voices.

As the creative force behind “N8ture AL_ Environmental,” Alex blends science and storytelling to make wildlife accessible and engaging. His Instagram showcases vibrant wildlife photography, educational content, and joyful moments in nature.

Driven by the belief that “nature is for everyone,” Alex uses his platform to showcase biodiversity, amplify Black science voices, and inspire curiosity through science and adventure

He’s a co-organizer of Black in Marine Science Week and a vocal advocate for diversity in STEM, often leading hikes and speaking to youth to inspire future scientists.

Whether he’s teaching, writing, or exploring with his dog Bella in Austell, Georgia, Alex brings warmth, curiosity, and purpose to everything he does.

Alex’s mission is to foster joy, resilience, and visibility in the outdoors one story at a time.
